Deployment of the Medical Module of the PIS.A.R.T.E. Project: the caming back of both teams from Haiti

The 14th of February has finished the activation of the Medical Module of the PIS.A.R.T.E. Project with the caming back of the second team from Haiti.
A first team left immediately after the earthquake while a second group has replaced the first team the 28th of January in order to guarantee the course of the sanitary activities in Haiti.
Both teams during their staying in Haiti have worked in the paediatric hospital of Saint Damien in Port au Prince where they have also set up the Advanced Medical Post with Surgery (AMP-S).
The deployment of the AMP-S and of all the personal has been decided through the activation of the European Commission and of the Italian Department of Civil Protection in the framework of the Pisa Advanced Response Team in Emergency Project (PIS.A.R.T.E.).
The PIS.A.R.T.E. Project has foreseen the deployment of one or both modules (the AMP-S and the USAR ones) in 2010 in order to intervene in case of major emergency inside or outside the European Union. The emergency in Haiti, since the country's conditions and the aids that are arriving from all over the world, has foreseen the activation only of the AMP-S of the Emergency Surgery Group.
